Mark Griffiths

Mark joined Nesta in 2009 where he works on our education programmes, looking at how innovation can tackle some of the big questions facing the UK's education system. He is especially interested in the challenges and prospects for the greater use of digital technology in learning - how can we equip more of our students to be confident makers using digital technologies, and what role can digital technology play in delivering more and better learning to students?

Mark has also worked on programmes around methods for diffusing innovative ideas, including supporting the People's Supermarket to codify and publish their methods in a book.  He also works with the Young Foundation on the Citizen's University project and has commissioned research on innovative approaches to equipping citizens with useful skills.

Before joining Nesta Mark worked in the private sector with a focus on technology driven innovation and the delivery of that innovation at scale.

He is a graduate of University College, London, where he received a First class degree in Philosophy.  In his spare time he is trying to find time to read with a very young child, and also enjoys art and architecture, and long walks in the countryside. He is a volunteer literacy and numeracy tutor at his local youth centre, and supports a number of charities working in early years settings.
